Mapland Scotland is an incredible learning environment – a massive topographical map of Scotland that is completely walkover.

We bring Mapland to your school and run hands-on interactive programs where pupils learn, discover and participate giving an experience that is unforgettable.

Mapland is a unique all-school resource that appeals to all ages of primary and secondary school pupils. It is a highly memorable experience that makes geography come alive right in your school…….putting Mapland together is a giant jigsaw puzzle in itself!

Program details
  • Mapland educational programs provide cross-curricular activities meeting the principles of A Curriculum for Excellence. The programs provide a coherent learning experience that draws different strands of learning together. Curricular areas of: Social Studies, Mathematics, Languages and Health and Wellbeing are included in the programs. 
  • The programs are run by our two instructors.
  • Mapland educational programs engage pupils as active learners, based on hands-on activities, fun learning and problem solving.
  • Assembling (or part assembling) Mapland can be part of the programs as team activities. 
  • All on one giant jigsaw map of Scotland pupils can:
    • See their village, town or city in relation to the rest of Scotland.
    • Understand North, East, South and West and grid references.
    • Understand scale, distance and overhead perspective.
    • Learn about Scottish geography and visualise land use - forestry, farming and mountain areas.
    • Appreciate the impact of built up areas and transport networks.
    • Find and discover the Scottish islands.
    • Follow roads, railways, rivers and glens.
    • Walk the coastline of Scotland.
    • Find Gaelic and Old Scots place names.
    • Learn about Scottish history.
  • Program length is flexible – we can run sessions from 1 to 3 hours.
  • We can accommodate up to 30 students at a time for each session.
